Clayton Saunders was born and raised in Calcutta, India. At a very early age Clayton fostered his desire to be a professional musician, at the tender age of 11 he became the youngest talent to perform regularly on All India Radio’s renowned program ‘The Children’s Hour’.
At 15 Clayton left school to become a professional entertainer performing in some of Calcutta’s most famous nightclubs with great success. At 17 Clayton formed a Pop Group that took India by storm, called The Flintstones (yes like the cartoon characters) and reigned as India’s number one band for more than 3 years.
Immigrating to Melbourne, Australia in June 1969, Clayton soon found his way onto local and national T.V. shows gaining popularity as one half of Melbourne’s famous folk/pop duo David and Nawab.
In the mid 70’s Clayton found greater success as the founding member of the hot contemporary country band ‘Hotspur’. In 1978 regular appearances on the successful T.V. show ‘Into Country’ lead to 2 gold records establishing Clayton as a fast rising star.
As the lead singer of legendary Victorian country show band ‘Stoney Creek’ Clayton and the band were awarded Best Vocal Country Group in 1983 and 1984. Voted ‘Most Popular Country Personality’ in 1984 Clayton went from strength to strength earning himself a Golden Guitar nomination for his original composition ‘Angel Eyes’ in the category of Best Country Song at the prestigious Tamworth Country Music Awards in that same year.
In the mid 80’s Clayton was engaged by various advertising agencies to write and sing jingles for radio and T.V. all the while honing his songwriting skills. In 1988 Australia’s national radio station, the ABC, added some of Clayton’s tracks from his solo album ‘Roses & Heartaches’ to their playlist for their worldwide listening audience.
In the late 80’s and early 90’s Clayton, now a multi instrumentalist (piano, electric keyboard, bass, acoustic/electric guitar) turned his talents to the cabaret/floor show field gaining notoriety as a successful cabaret performer and floorshow/comedy act. In the mid 90’s Clayton created his fabulous ‘Cliff Richard Tribute Show’ and was invited to take this show on board the Malaysian cruise line Star Cruises. Clayton and his show were so well received that the management of Star Cruises offered him the position of Cruise Director.
Clayton’s current goal is to establish himself as an international songwriter. With over 37 year’s experience as a touring performance artist, with numerous T.V. appearances and a radio show under his belt, Clayton now proudly presents himself to the world market as a singer/songwriter.
By far the most inspiring and innovative artist to date, Clayton's sense of rhythmic soul and blues essence brings this singer to the forefront of an ever-developing industry. The sheer sensuality and maturity of lust conveyed in the artist's lyrics are testament to the true desire and burning passion of his heart. Clayton has en-captured a sense of everlasting love hardly exposed in the modern music of the 2000's. Definitely a one to watch, these catchy beats are sure to have women writhing between their bedsheets in no time.
