I Always Thought That I'd Be Young Forever
written by: Ann Mayo Muir
genre: folk/acoustic

I am constantly trying to reconcile this enormous division within myself as one part of me confronts the physical pains of aging while mentally feeling years younger. My conversation with "Forever" was deeply satisfying and comforting to me. I wrote it in order to begin healing that divided place within me.
Mystery Bow
written by: Ann Mayo Muir
genre: folk/acoustic

I hired my violin bow to sing this song for me. This was written in 2001 after a period of searching for a nice bow. Many of the amusing things that happened during my hunt found their way into my song. Lucky I bought that bow because later that summer I met a handsome young gypsy playing his violin on the Hungarian boarder and when we noticed that his bow was broken I gave him my student Bow. He was brilliant.
Ship of Pain
written by: Ann Mayo Muir
genre: folk/acoustic

I hope my song gives insights into the plight of people who suffer chronic pain. It is a song of my confrontation with some of my most difficult battles dealing with pain which unfortunately is part of my life. Music allows me to keep my head above water. Passion for music , keeps me free of pain , but only while I am hard at work, playing with this creative expression of myself. I am playing baritone ukulele, flute and nyckleharpa. AM
Lament For Andrea
written by: Ann Mayo Muir
genre: instrumental

Andrea was my husband's oldest daughter. She was lovely and talented and her Papa's right hand on a sailing boat. She could read his mind as he could read hers. Quiet and shy, she loved books and cooking, teaching me her secrets when we were together. She would always help her friends. I am happy that I was one of them. She died at 44 years old. Music is being played by Ensemble Galilei.
A Love Song To My Sailor
written by: Ann Mayo Muir
genre: instrumental

This was written for my husband, Claude Graf, the designer and builder of our beautiful Chebec sailboat. We have spent many summers sailing along the east coast of the United States as well as around the Mediterranean. He is one of the world's great sailors who did it the old fashioned way, by the stars and with a compass. The melody says "I LOVE YOU."
From My Window
written by: Ann Mayo Muir
genre: folk/acoustic

Sometimes being in a traffic jam pays off. I had time to gaze about and dream till my eyes caught sight of a favorite tree that set my dreams in motion jogging my childhood memories alive once more. I am playing a baritone ukulele.

SONGWRITERS BIOGRAPHY
Ann Mayo Muir has had a long and lustrous career as a touring musician, most often appearing in Folk Concerts with Gordon Bok and Ed Trickett. During those years Ann distinguished herself as singer, arranger and multi-instrumentalist. Together they recorded numerous albums with the Folk-Legacy Label and later with Timberhead Music. The Washington Post described their work as, "...softly focused masterpiece of folk grace."

When they stopped performing in 2000, Ann had just taken up the fiddle, to which she has since added Hardanger Fiddle and Nykelharpa, studying under some of the finest fiddlers in the Celtic tradition.

Now, composing full time, Ann has produced instrumental music that has been recently recorded by Ensemble Galilei, under the title "Notes From Across The Sea." Some of the pieces have an American feel, many have a European twist, and a couple have run off with the Gypsies. A CD release is planned for April 2009.

Golly girl, I read the words here and I found myself instead worrying about getting old, Then I found myself relaxing in the words and beauty of finally seeing the true meaning of life. You are bringing to heart a certain beauty of fulfilling every single ounce of life . Great writing is touching a heart really deep..you've done that with words and vocals... The music to me couldn't have been more subtle and perfect with the lyrics of this song...I thank you from the bottom of my heart for such a heartfelt, inspiring song!!

Very emotional, deep dark and honest. I brilliant example on the fact that physique and psyche are two sides of the same coin. Leaves the listener with no doubt that this is for real and not some pseudo-smartass-write. Powerful song Annie!

What a joyful tune, full of promise and optimism. The feeling of the waves rolling beneath as we make our jouney is beautifully conveyed! We swing along with sweet breezes in the hair, a light spray on the face and sunlight glistening on the porpoises as they leap in the waves. Lovely!

I love an instrumental that tells a story, and this one tells a very good story indeed, talking of both love and the sea. Honestly, I can say that this song is one that hits the emotional buttons, making me laugh and cry at the same time. Excellent! Thank you for sharing this one.

I get a Technicolor film running inside my head while listening to your song. I urge you to make contact with the Disney concern offering them your services. You are drawing in tones and you are doing very solid creations, that can stand alone only containing your voice and ukulele. Timeless!!! Ken

ah, sycamore song! i remember the happy tone of this one - it's a lovely redo. LOVE what you write about - "listening to her tree heart pound." how does it get any better than that? beautifully easy and effortless and intimately-sung-to-each-of-us vocal. thank you! anne

it's hard to know what to say after hearing such an exquisite piece of music. I remember hearing this the first time when you did it on Sibelius and thinking then how glorious it would be to hear it performed with celtic instruments - and now we have it - and it passes all expectation. Your experience throughout your distinguished musical career shines through - as does your complete understanding of of the emotional qualities of chord and melody structure. An example to all who think learning five chords on a guitar is enough to make them a musician. You are a true exponent of the craft Annie. Gilly.
