Tara Newton-Wordsworth has been performing since she was five years of age. Being the daughter of singer/songwriter Kelly Newton-Wordsworth, music has always been a part of her life.
Tara was classically trained from the age of fourteen, which has given her the foundation to sing a range of different styles. In 2003 Tara toured England and Wales singing with the Presbyterian Ladies College/Trinity Chorale and also began performing in theatre productions at school and the Midnite Youth Theatre Company. Whilst attending PLC she was Drama and Choir Captain of the school and received Honours in Arts, Drama and Debating.
After graduating from high school Tara became a director of her family's business Williams River Produce, producing high quality biodynamic/organic gormet food being grown and processed on her family farm. In 2006 she sang with Kelly in London and Ireland to protest against human rights abuses by the Indonesian Military in West Papua.
In 2007 Tara began performing professionally accompanying herself on piano and singing with Kelly in West Australia's 'Oz Big Band'. She also began composing her own original songs, for the recording of her first album. With the versatility of her voice she has been able to create a divergent repetoire, with genres ranging from jazz to classical, pop, folk and music theatre. Tara is presently performing internationally and is based in Bangkok. She has just commenced recording her first album.
Tara has a beautiful, melodic voice with a great element of purity and emotion. It is wonderful to see how Tara has evolved into a competent and gifted songstress from the time I knew her as a child when I stayed on her parent's farm in Western Australia ten years ago.
