SONG INFORMATION
Out of the Blue
written by: Cindy Kleinstuber Blevins
genre: instrumental

This is the title track of an album I recorded in 1990. My tools were my Yamaha DX7, a little sequencer, and a Korg sound module. No part of this piece was written down anywhere. I recorded it from my head to my keyboard, "in layers." I put down the basic piano track, then added sounds as the mood struck. Much of this piece was recorded "first take" right out of my head. The original was longer. I cropped it as delicately as I could to fit within the six minute window for submissions.
Midnight Two-Step
written by: Cindy Kleinstuber Blevins
genre: instrumental

This was written in 1993 as part of a suite called "Spirits in the Attic." It was originally created using my (at the time) Yamaha DX7, a small sequencer, and a Korg sound module. This version, however, was put together while learning to use Garritan Personal Orchestra.
Watching Snow Fall
written by: Cindy Kleinstuber Blevins
genre: instrumental

This piece was originally written as an original harp solo. It was arranged with synthesizer just for fun, as part of my WinterScape CD of 2011. It has also been made into a song, lyrics by Denise Baxter-Yoder. This version is the harp/synthesizer version.
Echo Dancing
written by: Cindy Kleinstuber Blevins
genre: instrumental

I wrote this piece (and the album it is on) in my early "synthesizer days." For me, this piece was about exploration, of my trusty Yamaha DX7 and assorted modules, and my own mind.
Sunday Morning Carriage Ride
written by: Cindy Kleinstuber Blevins
genre: instrumental

This piece is a movement from "Suite Central Park." I had been working on all three movements, not really knowing what they were about, until a chance trip to New York City...and a Sunday morning carriage ride in Central Park.

Diamondback
written by: Cindy Kleinstuber Blevins (music) and Denise Baxter-Yoder (lyrics)

Diamondback is a a song about a girl making her way in a city where she just doesn't feel comfortable til she turns a corner and finds a surprise waiting for her...an unexpected encounter which proves to be a turning point ....a matter of life and death....but just who is the victim? And who is the predator? Diamondback... a bit of blues and banjo... a bit of Americana... a musical moment in an urban landscape.
Watching Rain
written by: Cindy Kleinstuber Blevins

The fusion of lush, acoustic harp with synthesizer can create any mood. This song evokes a certain melancholy I feel when I stand at a window and watch the rain come down.

SONGWRITERS BIOGRAPHY
Cindy Kleinstuber Blevins is a Colorado-based harp teacher and composer of harp music. Although her first love was piano, she went through college on a clarinet performance scholarship. She took up harp as an adult. She is the President of Blevins Instruments, Inc. (blevinsharps.com) a Colorado corporation which hand-crafts 70 models of fine lever harps.

She has been writing and recording on synthesizers of various kinds since the late 1980's. "Sunday Morning Carriage Ride" (2nd place, 2012 Instrumental Category) is part of "Suite Central Park" from her CD "Cynda: Out of the Blue." The music was never written down. It was composed in her head, and then recorded track by track using her Yamaha DX7, a Korg module, and a little Yamaha sequencer with a tiny little screen. Such was the technology of the 80's.

Her harp music: Cindy is best known for the hundreds (if not thousands) of original harp solos, harp learning materials, harp arrangements, ensembles and recordings she writes and publishes. They can be viewed on her music website (cindykleinstuber.com.)

Her piano work: Cindy has a website devoted to her many piano compositions and arrangements. A huge project in 2003 was to transcribe the complete "Suite Central Park" into a piano solo. This was the first (and only) time the music had ever been written down. "Sunday Morning Carriage Ride" is the 3rd movement of the 19-page piano suite. You can find "Suite Central Park" at blevinspianomusic.com.

Her songwriting: The song-writing team of Cindy Kleinstuber Blevins (music) and Denise Baxter-Yoder (lyrics) has written two dozen songs as of 2012 and is continually working on more. Their song "Keep Them Safe" won Honorable Mention in a previous Indie International Contest. You can listen to their songs at mistymorningmusic.com. On Cindy's YouTube channel (harpcomposer) you can watch videos of many of the songs. The videos are produced by Cindy using her various hobbies (computer animation, photography and art.)

Her songwriting partner: Denise Baxter-Yoder is ann immensely talented singer/song writer with the Americana group Puddingstone, located in North Carolina. She has expanded her musical directions becoming a founding member of the harp/flute duo, Tapestry. Her collaborations as lyricist with composer Cindy Kleinstuber Blevins is becoming her major focus in the development of new musical projects.

Her art: Art and photography are hobbies, and every good hobby should have a website! You can view the art at harpartist.com.

Denise's voice is so pure and beautiful. It is a joy to hear her sing. The lyrics of this song express so well what many Americans are feeling with their loved ones away in foreign lands. This is beautiful!
