I was born and raised in New York City, and have lived in the United States all of my life. I lived for a while on Maui, Hawaii in 1964-65. Then I moved to Phoenix, Arizona, married and started a family. After living in Southern California for a few years, we moved to Maui in 1978, and that's where my kids grew up. I'm a grandmother now, and we still live here.
Well it's alot of hard work raising a family, but I still had energy to play guitar and allow the songs to come forth. Over the years I've performed my music in restaurants and clubs for open mic nights. I played at a restaurant in Paia, Maui (Moana's) for 11 months (1999) in the afternoons for a couple of hours twice a month. No pay, but I could sell my albums, children's books and poetry books. I moved now to Wailuku because of the Cafe Marc Aurel opem mic nights. Moana's has a liquor license now and has to have an extra manager on if someone plays music, and he only does that at night. The poor economy caused Cafe Marc Aurel to close last May and there's no place for me to perform. I've been concentrating of remastering my tracks and entering song writing contests.
I come from a musical family, and learned to read, write and play piano from an early age. I wasn't very good at hand coordination after I sustained a critical chest injury. I learned to make marionettes and puppets from my aunt and uncle who were successful professional puppeteers. I've been performing from an early age, modeling, acting, reading my poetry onstage, performing with my puppet show and always playing my songs.
I have a website where I showcase and share my life's work. Here's the link: BANANA PATCH FANTASY PRODUCTIONS
If you take a stroll down the Banana Patch Fantasy Path, you'll discover the legend that leads to the links on the Navigator Bar. There you'll find

I've also written screen plays and a series for t.v. (22 episodes). I've adapted popular children's stories, like Rumplstiltkin and other folk tales (from Africa and Japan) for stage. I don't have any of the scripts on my website though. I just gave Mr. Mark Callmer, Production mgr for MAPA (Maui Academy for Performing Artists) 4 of the scripts when he came to the studio in Feb 2011. I am trying to get work with them but their budget is drastically reduced and they had to let some personnel go. There are only 6 of them now and they're hoping the 2011 Grant will sustain them.
Well, you know the world is in such a mess now, and I have alot of soothing music to share; music that keeps me smiling and to be honest....stops my grumbling. It's hard to be upset when there's so much music goin' round in my head! (smile) It is every human's wish, if they thought about it, to contribute to world happiness in some way. We all want to live in a happy world. So even though I'm almost 70, I would like to be part of the solution and if possible, earn my living again. Can't do menial labor anymore, but I can still sing and play and my audiences do tell me gratefully that some song I played, lifted a bit of their burden for a while. I can't ask for more than that. I work on a zero budget with no crew and do my own engineering. But if I had the means to record in a professional studio, I could do much better. When I play live, it is put together much better than my attempt at self-recording.
